The Tree of Life, 2011 (dir. Terrence Malick)

So I finally rented The Tree of Life. I liked it. I don’t know what you other less imaginative people were complaining about. Yes, it goes on a odd tangent but how dare you say there isnt a plot. it pretty much spells it out in the very beginning. its a movie about a young boys struggle growing up. there is about 10 different ways to see it. the way of nature vs the way of grace. the strife between his mom and dad. but it really comes down to him facing his own evil tendencies.
maybe im partial because i really like terrence malick, ive seen all of his films now. the thin red line is still my favorite. i also just finished dandelion wine, its about a 12 year old discovering the world within his home town. terrence malick has used voice-over narration in every film and this is deffinetly its heaviest, and ya combined withthe music its a little pretentious.
this movie is beautiful. stop complaining.
